Wally “World” Szczerbiak

What is it with Cleveland and its shooters.  Wally Szczerbiak, an 8 year veteran, has a career avg FG% of 48.8, 3P% of 40.6 and a 15.3 PPG.  In the 01-02 season, starting in all 82 games for Minnesota, he averaged 38 MPG, 40.8% FG, 45.5% 3P and 18.7 PPG.  So why is it in Cleveland that for 10 games he is at 31.8% FG, 36.6%3P and 10.5 PPG?

Brian Windhorst of the Akron Beacon Journal commented that during the Portland game “he played lots of minutes but didn’t get many shots and it looked like he was getting frozen out a bit.  I think the fact that he takes so many shots gets on some of his teammates nerves.”  In watching the game I was thinking the same thing.  It was LBJ and DJ down the stretch to the point of looking like a game of keep away.  I like the enthusiasm that Wally brings to the game.  He is quick, strong and wants to win.  With Sasha coming back, Boobie on the horizon and the team needing to move towards a more solid rotation as the playoffs arrive I hope that Mike Brown doesn’t “freeze” out Wally World.

Cavaliers Sign Center Lance Allred

Perfect Fit, Lebron James on the Cover of Vogue with Gisele

Lebron James and super model, Gisele,  will appear on the April cover of fashion magazine Vogue. Actors Richard Gere and George Clooney are the only other men that appeared on the cover of Vogue.

The photo was taken back in January, not in New York, but in James’ home town of Akron, OH.

Lebron James on the Cover of Vogue with Gisele

“Nobody says more about fashion size and shape than Gisele and LeBron,” Vogue spokesman Patrick O’Connell said. “LeBron is an amazing star and athlete that has crossed over into a cultural phenomena.”

Vogue is featuring athletes and models in an annual issue devoted to size and shape.

Being on the cover of a sports magazine is nothing new to James, who first appeared on Sports Illustrated’s front as a 17-year-old high school junior in 2002 next to the presumptuous title of “The Chosen One.” He is currently one of 11 athletes appearing on the cover of ESPN The Magazine’s 10th anniversary issue. Youth not in LeBron’s Fave 5

LeBron James said he did not purchase a ticket or invite Anthony Erskine to Wednesday’s game at the Izod center. For those of you watching the game on March 5th against the New York Knicks, Erskine, 17 was the person who made his way uninvited into the Cavaliers huddle. He was a huge LeBron fan who was overwhelmed and got caught up in the moment. James shook his hand and the fan was quickly escorted off the court.

In regard to the rumors floating around that LeBron purchased him a ticket to the New Jersey game, James said “It never happened, I don’t know where that rumor came from.” If Erskine showed up, James said he would not know anything about it. “I wouldn’t know unless someone told me,” James said. “It happened so fast. I don’t remember what he looks like.”

Michael Jordan Denies Involvement in Spitzer Sex Scandal

Jordan’s attorney Frederick Sperling, denied that Michel Jordan’s name was in the FBI affidavit filed by the feds detailing operations of the Emperors Club, a sex-for-hire shop that allegedly ensnared embattled New York. Gov. Eliot Spitzer.

In order to end rumors that unnamed Client No. 10, who requested an Emperors Club prostitute for March 4 in Chicago, may have been Jordan, Sperling tells Sneed: “I have just received confirmation from Assistant U.S. Attorney Rita Glavin in New York that our client Michael Jordan is neither a subject nor a target of this investigation.”

Sasha Pavlovic Ready to Play

One in and one is out. Yesterday the Cavaliers shut down Eric Snow to let him rehab his left knee which he repaired in October. Eric Snow never been a factor this season and he has taken a player/coach role.

On the bright side, Pavlovic is cleared to play tonight against the Nets. Sasha was sidelined January 23rd for a midfoot sprain. He was cleared for full contact over the weekend after missing 23 games because of the injury.

He is not 100% yet and it’s not clear if he is going to start tonight in place of Devin Brown.

“It hurts a little bit when I go right because I am squeezing that part I hurt, but they told me it is going to be like that for a couple more weeks,” said Pavlovic, who has missed 23 games with the injury. ”I have to play with the pain, but I feel very good.”

Ben Wallace said his back is still bothering him. “I’m going to keep working at it and trying to get it to calm down so I can get back,” Wallace said. “I’m going to try to get out there and see what it feels like. If it doesn’t feel right, I’ll probably sit out”

Joe Smith might start in place of Ben Wallace.

Lebron James is featured on the outermost cover followed by NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr., Tennessee Titans quarterback Vince Young, Pittsburgh Penguins center Sidney Crosby, and New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez.
