Cavs Season Ends in Disappointment

Sun, May 31, 2009 By Tariq Ali

Cavaliers News, LeBron James

Lebron James walked off the court after a disappointment performance without looking at the fans or talking to anyone. He dressed quickly in the locker room and put on his headset and left to the team bus without talking to reporters. This is the first time he has done than.

James had 25 points, seven rebounds and seven assists in his least spectacular game of the series. He went scoreless in the second quarter, allowing the Magic to go ahead by 18 points at the half with little help from teammates.

“We can’t put it all on him,” Cavs forward Joe Smith said. “He needs some help.”

“You need a total team effort to win,” Magic forward Rashard Lewis said. “LeBron’s a great player, but at the same time, you need more than one guy. You need five guys. You need guys coming off the bench.”

The Cavaliers only lost 20 games this season. Six of them to the Orlando Magic and five came in Amway Arena.

“We had one goal in mind but we came up short,” Cavs coach Mike Brown said. “Sometimes you need a little luck at time in order win an NBA championship. Everything we did this year wasn’t skill and heart. We had some luck. Not taking anything away from Magic. I felt our guys laid it on the line.”

I was a little disappointed in coach Brown. I’m not blaming him, but I wish he gave the young guys some minutes. There were a couple of 6′6″ to 6′7″ guards on the bench. The center from Kansas was on the bench. It would have been interesting to see if they would’ve made a difference. the bottom line is the Magic were too big and too skilled. We are definitely going to have to add some talented youth in our Front Court to content with the other top 3 to 4 teams.
