Reghi to replace Mark “Munch” Bishop at WKNR-AM 850

Cavaliers News

The News Herald is reporting that Michael Reghi will move into the 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. slot on WKNR-AM 850 starting today, an industry source said. Reghi will replace Mark “Munch” Bishop in that time slot.Bishop will remain at the station and sell advertising, according to a source. His show, “Munch on Sports,” started about April 2007.

The source said the ESPN station quickly realized there was little middle ground with Bishop’s show. Listeners either loved him or hated him.  Reghi has a huge following in Northeast Ohio and is the former play-by-play man on Cavaliers television broadcasts.  There are no other changes to WKNR’s lineup. However, the station is launching a new Web site.

Reghi is the lesser of two evils, I guess. I have never understood his appeal. He tries to sound like a thesaurus, rather than just talk like a normal person. And his “BANG, BANG, BANG!” call for LeBron on TV was just plain annoying.

But Munch, to me, was nearly unlistenable. And Reghi is less annoying than Ronnie Duncan was.

Personally, I wish they could talk Geoff Sindelar into coming back!

  2. Brian says:

Wow… Guess I can take WKNR off my radio station preset. I “discovered” WKNR because Munch moved to his own show on the station. I hate the evening show w/ Kenny Rhoda too much shouting (he talks louder than the Commercials!) and after a few day’s, I’m done with Reghi too. Too bad KNR…

  3. David says:

I will miss Munch. I guess I fell on the side of loving him. He was a normal guy talking like guys talk.

  4. Jim says:

Yes I’d love to have Geoff Sindelar back on the radio.

  5. The Munch Man selling advertisning. I guess he must still be under contract. I liked him and will miss his fervor for his home turf. It is all about the ratings and the money. See you Munch.

  6. Dave Murphy says:

Not that I get KNR in Columbus, but Munch used to be on 610 for Buckeye pre and post game.

See ya Munch. Guess your anti-Tressel campaign finally got you off the air completely. Good riddance.

  7. Roman says:

“Munch” knows more about sports than anyone
in Cleveland. It was nice having a local guy who really knows what he is talking about.I will miss him.

  8. lost listener says:

I listened to Munch because he knows all the sports, and was ENTERTAINING. He made me laugh every day. BRING BACK MUNCH!!!!!!~!

Reghi is so dull, monotone, BORING.

What reason is there to listen to him? Insomnia? You have lost another listener.

  9. Matt says:

Your a moron for thinkin that. Wow! Munch is terrible!!!

  10. sid says:

reghi sounds like he’s commentating on the radio and also sounds like he’s reading the dictionary word for word and munch was okay so i guess if i had to go for one i’d keep reghi

  11. JJ says:

Reghi is a fake, just like his hair line. I grew up with him covering Toledo sports. I remember as a kid, saying, “this guy is horrible” Munch at least is in touch with his crowd. I agree, you like him or you don’t. No differnt than anyone else, including Triv. Upgrading to Reghi, is like cutting Moe williams to upgrade to Damon Jones. Reghi is a hack, smooth talker with his hooked on phonics lingo, but it was smooth enough to get him another job.

  12. Chuerlopp says:

Munch is a phony. He pretends to be a kid from the hood but actually grew up in Solon. Anyone that tries so hard to prove he’s one thing, but is actually something else usually has something to hide.

I’m not a Reghi fan either. He is constantly making smacking noices with his mouth on air. I just can’t take it. In fact, I can’t listen to Rizzo for the same reason. He is also snorting or smacking or making other discusting noises. Guess I’ll just listen to Rome from 12-3pm then switch to music.
