JA Apparel Corp signed a deal with the NBA to be the coaches’ official clothier. The deal is worth more than $500,000 according to The Wall Street Journal.

Unlike Nike and Adidas who provide shoes to high profile athletes, Joseph Abboud is building its brand by dressing high profile sports figure such as coaches. Just last August, JA Apparel Corp signed an agreement to provide off-the-field attire for National Football League coaches.

“We love these 35- to 54-year-old guys who are sports fanatics,” he says. Mr. Abboud.

“The National Basketball Coaches Association says its aim in the deal wasn’t to standardize coaches’ attire. Instead, says the association’s executive director, Michael Goldberg, it was drawn by JA Apparel’s promise to donate boys suits to a new children’s charity the association set up that is affiliated with the Boys & Girls Club of America.”

The company hope that its distinctive herringbone patterns will catch viewers attention. “Some people might say ‘that looks pretty nice. Is that Joseph Abboud?,’ and others may want to find out what the coach is wearing,” says JA Apparel’s Mr. Staff.
