The Cleveland Cavaliers selected North Carolina State forward J.J. Hickson with the 19th pick of the 2008 NBA Draft.”We’re really excited that J.J. was available for us. It was important for us to get a young big,” Cavaliers General Manager Danny Ferry said. “J.J. was a guy we had ranked highly all year. He’s athletic and can create in the post and the wing. He can play with his back to the basket, and he’s a very dedicated player that will be a hard worker for us.”
Hickson, 19, earned ACC All-Freshman Team honors and was named Honorable Mention All-Conference after averaging 14.8 points on a conference-best .591 shooting and 8.5 rebounds per game. He led all ACC freshmen in scoring, rebounding and double-doubles (10) and also earned ACC Rookie of the Week honors on three occasions. The 6-foot-9, 242-pound forward set an ACC single-game freshman record with 23 rebounds versus Clemson on Feb. 16. He scored in double figures in 25 of 31 career games, including seven games with 20 or more points.

I’m not feeling good on this pick, I in part because on all my lists he wasn’t hire then late 1st round and several had him in the second? After talking to a few people know likes this pick because knowone knows anything about him? only that he is only 6′9″…. I hope there is some articles that will really sell this guy? They need a big move just to calm us fans down on this one.
When getting players from college the only sure things are in the top 15. So anything player after that is a hope and a prayer. The statement he is only 6′9 makes no since, he Cavs need someone who can score IN THE POST, they play defense with anyone right now. I hope ferry makes a deal for a free agent who can score. Also there are some college players out there who may be able to help.
the statement refers to the fact that very few 6′9″ PF become solid starters in the NBA. There are a few so don’t go dropping names. When your short, you have to be able to make up for it by doing something better then others. When you have height it makes up for things they can’t do! In the end after looking him up reading a few things, he seems to be a better prospect then he was on draft day. I had to get past the reports “no outside shoot or he should have stayed back another year, i even heard he had a questionable work ethic” I guess it all comes down to who is saying what and why!
