Great to find info on Foots Walker. But as a student at Vincennes University during the time that Mr. Walker and Mr. McAdoo played, I can tell you that the two did not win a NJCAA Championship together. Bob McAdoo won the title in 1970 for the 69-70 season.
The duo played together in the 70-71 season, and though we had a great team we did not win. Mr. McAdoo graduated and left for North Carolina.
The undefeated, Championship season followed in 71-72 when Mr. Walker lead an outstanding team with Tony Byers and Bill Butler.

Happy birthday Foots!
The most exciting H.S. basketball
player I ever saw. From Jr. High thru
High School he lost one game - the very
last one he played.
His combined inter-scholastic/inter-collegiate
winning percentage was surpassed at the
time by only Lew Alcindor. Surely, you've
heard of him.
Many thanks.

I'm curious about Bingo Smith. How can I find more information about him? Most importantly, how did he get his nickname?

Nice story, but Fitch was still the coach in 1974. Albeck didn't show up until several years later.

Scott:

Thank you so much for sharing that story. I have to admit I fell a little bit in love with Foots while researching and writing about him.

I went to West Georgia to play basketball the year after Foots graduated. I went because Foots was my hero in high school. He was and is still a legend at West Ga.
